welcome to the tiny inkling studio…

Walking in my favourite park I noticed a few fragments of vintage china and shards of old and cloudy glass partly buried in the dirt

Collecting these became a mindful kind of therapy, at a time when I needed it most

As a lifelong artist I knew that one day a creative idea would reveal itself, and gradually, as my collection grew, so too did the first tiny inkling of an idea; gradually revealing a new life for these long discarded scraps of landfill

Most become vessels of one kind or another; china and glass shards reloved as sails on watercolour seas, vases holding all kinds of flora, most often our unique Aussie native flowers, or the tiniest chips, newly imagined as cups waiting for that steaming morning cuppa

Hand-drawn ink lines and layers of soft watercolour on 300gsm watercolour paper, some roughly textured and handmade, others smooth and slightly brighter. Each painting comes float-framed in its own shadow-box; white to keep it simple, and deep enough to frame the upcycled pieces within. These can be hung on a wall, propped upright, or tilted on any flat surface

And these artworks that have bloomed around each of those dirty shattered pieces? As one of my first customers said so perfectly …

‘they are a wonderful reminder that life can feel broken, but still be beautiful’

Collection of hand-drawn floral sketches featuring various bouquets and individual flowers in black and white.
